Essential Healthcare Tips After Having a Baby

Feeling tired? Cranky? Not yourself? Here are some valuable tips on how to take care of yourself after having delivery.

The first month of having a newborn at home can be quite overwhelming. You might feel like all of your time is focused on caring for your newborn. In this new time of change, don't forget to take care of yourself! Below are some tips for how you can practice self care after delivery.

Rest whenever you can.

Delivering a baby is hard work and you probably weren't able to sleep much in the hospital. The first few weeks after delivery are an important time for you to rest whenever you can. Careful lifting.

Do not lift anything heavier than your baby, especially if you have had a cesarean section. Your tummy and nether areas are likely feeling tender. Walking and yoga are good forms of exercise.

Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Let family and friends know they can help by cooking meals, helping with laundry or other household chores, babysitting siblings, or stopping at the store to pick up a few items for you. Many new parents are afraid to ask for help from their community, but you will be surprised to know how many people are ready to lend a helping hand!

Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated makes such a difference in how we feel! Make sure that even in busy times, to try to drink 8 large glasses of fluid each day. If you are finding this to be a challenge, try using a large water bottle and finishing it twice a day.
